videos: update

Hello parents!

I’m very sorry for the delay with uploading some of the students videos. I am out of the country and have the videos with me, but I am having trouble finding strong internet to upload them. I will continue to try from here, but will return to Thailand on April 11th and will upload the remaining videos between now and then.

Again I apologize for the delay- I was hoping for stronger internet access here in the Philippines but it has been difficult to find wifi.

Thanks for your understanding,

Teacher Jessie

Thanksgiving is tomorrow :)

Hello everyone!
We are back from the long holiday break and are happy to be back in school! So far we have studied ‘rice’ and ‘water’.
At the end of ‘rice’ week we made some traditional Mexican Ride Pudding. The students enjoyed eating rice in this new way!

Today we made headbands. We want to look like the american indians that came to the first Thanksgiving! Kindergarten 2 is going to look like the pilgrims tomorrow and will join us.
We are asking that everyone brings some food to share tomorrow (Thursday). We will have a special lunch with K-1/7, K-1/8, and K-2, more than 75 students total. We want to share food together for the tradition of Thanksgiving :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Here are the students in their cute headbands that we made together

Mentos and Coke experiment

Last week we did a little science experiment involving Mentos mints and Coca-Cola.

Before we did it, the students got a worksheet that had 3 pictures of the experiment, all getting different results:

The students decided which one they think would happen and colored only that picture. Below the pictures, there was space for the students to draw how it looked AFTER they watched it happen:

We went outside and some other classes came over to watch this fun experiment :)

First you string the Mentos together so that you can drop 4 or more into a 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola very fast.

Then you drop it in and see what happens!

We did 1 small bottle, and 2 big bottles. On the last one, we drilled a hole in the top of the cap so that the opening was smaller. This made the effect stronger because there was more pressure :)
Here is the video of what happened:

color blending activity

Today we got together with K-1/8 and talked about using 2 colors to make a new color. We all used our fingers to make a blue circle and a yellow circle. Then we discovered what color they would make together- green!

We had fun doing this art activity and the students really enjoyed the paint :)

some ‘Healthy Food’ activities

hi parents!

Over the past couple weeks we did some fun activities while learning about ‘healthy foods’ and ‘vegetables’.

I meant to put the pictures up last week but I got busy making the school’s official English Program website, which you can visit at www.WatDonthongEP.com

Anyway, here are some pictures from the activities we did. First, we worked together with Kindergarten-2 and made healthy salads and some apple/grape happy face snacks :)

you can see all the pictures from that day here: Album: healthy snacks

We also had a special afternoon with K-1/8 where we cooked some stir fried vegetables and made some salads Thai style.

You can see all the photos from that day here: Album- vegetables day

trip to the Aquarium!

today we took a field trip to the aquarium and saw lots of beautiful fish!
The class had a great time and everyone was very well behaved :)

We took many great photos of the kids to share with you!

You can see the photo album of the trip here:
